Dear World Parrot Refuge,

I read on the internet that you are raising money to feed birds and I was a bit confused, because I couldn’t figure out what you were feeding them to. Then I realized you were raising money to buy nuts and seeds FOR the birds which would make more sense to me except I read that you have hundreds of birds and that it costs $500 a year to feed and house one of these things! That’s a lot of money. I looked up how long these things live and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’d be much cheaper to just let them go. Fly, be free! Fly, be free! Then I saw you were in Canada and realize this would mean their quick cruel deaths due to the cold. So it seems if you want to be economical and humane you could just send them back to whatever country they came from! People are always wanting to do that to other people, so why not birds? Go back to where you came from, you bird! Put them on an airplane and send them back to Africa! This seems to make the most sense to me, and would be quite cost effective, but perhaps there is a political or ethical or legal reason why you can’t do this? I’m guessing you could charter a flight pretty cheaply, but haven’t really looked into it. I could though if that would be helpful (just let me know). Normally I would include a small donation towards the care of a bird, but since I don’t have any money with the Queen on it I don’t think my kind of dollars would be helpful. I do have a Canadian friend though, so I might see if he could spare a few dollars. I’d hate to see the birds go hungry.

Sincerely,

Christopher L. Jorgensen
