Dear Bonny Doon,

They say you can’t judge a book by it’s cover, but I think those people have no love for good graphic design. A well designed book cover is often a good indication of well loved content. No one puts good books in crappy covers if they can help it.

I feel this same way about your wines! I love your labels. I love the artwork and graphic design. I particularly like the Ralph Steadman labels. The contents of these bottles usually live up to the art! The Cardinal Zin is one of my favorite wines of all time. I have a poster of this label above my bed. I often look at it as I fall asleep. I used to drink your wine a lot back when I could afford to drown my sorrows. With the current economy my sorrows seldom even get wet these days. I miss communing with the Cardinal!

If I ever get my finances under control again I’ll be sure to reach for the Zin! Hopefully one day soon I will once again be able to afford a life of debauchery.

Sincerely,

Christopher L. Jorgensen

Dear Christopher Jorgensen,

Thanks so much for your very kind note. So glad that you were touched by the labels. We have had historically too much fun producing them. Please note that I sold the Cardinal Zin label and the new package no longer features the work of Steadman. Not sure about the wine either. In any event, I don’t think we’ll ever see the heyday of BDV label art, but quality of wines has definitely improved.
