Dear CVS Pharmacy,

Tonight I saw one of your commercials on TV and there were people frolicking in the water and others having fun in a social environment. I have to admit I didn’t pay much attention because we don’t have a CVS in Ames (that I am aware of), but it seemed like a decent commercial. While watching all I could think of though was, “That’s the company that refuses to take Apple Pay. They are the ones that shut it off out of spite and refuse to take the money of those who want to give it to them.” I’m sure this is only partially correct, but it’s becoming your narrative.

People online are making fun of your receipts (they are really long) and your plan to eventually someday maybe come out with a mobile payment option to compete with what Apple customers have today.

If I were you I would nip this whole thing in the bud. I would announce you like trading things for money and I’d start selling to anyone that wants to pay me. Or, you can write me back in a decade and tell me you’d wish you’d taken my advice.

Remember, I don’t even have a CVS Pharmacy near me, so this won’t affect me one way or another, but this is your New Coke moment. Don’t screw it up. I’d hate to no longer see your commercials on TV.

Sincerely,

Christopher L. Jorgensen
