An Unanswered Letter to Broken Arrow

Dear Broken Arrow,

Please declare August 20 to be “Irwin the Kangaroo” day in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma!

I am sure my letter will be just one of many written on behalf of Irwin the Kangaroo, but I only hope to add my voice to those who are in in support of Christie Carr and Irwin. In the unlikely event that you have no idea what I am talking about, one of the residents of your fine town has a handicapped kangaroo that needs her constant care. It also sound like she in turn needs the kangaroo. In biology this is what’s called a symbiotic relationship, but regardless of what you would like to call it, these two have caught the attention of the people on the internet.

You have a real opportunity here. The world is watching. At this point you have exactly two choices. Embrace the addition of a Kangaroo to your community or kick said kangaroo to the curb. I warn you though Irwin and Christie are quite famous. Pictures of Irwin are making the rounds and it’s universally agreed that Irwin is amazingly cute. People like cute things. You should capitalize on their fondness for the adorable and take my advice and make August 20 “Irwin the Kangaroo” day!

I’m pretty sure you’d prefer to cultivate a reputation as a community that unites to takes care of its own, rather than being seen as a callous and heartless place that people make fun of. It’s not often people are presented with a choice like this. This is one of those times!

And really, other than your 80th Annual Rooster Days Festival what else is there to do in Broken Arrow? You need “Irwin the Kangaroo” day!

Sincerely,

Christopher L. Jorgensen
