Dear Mike Richter,

Merry Christmas!

My girlfriend thinks you’re the best hockey player of all time, but I figure if this were the case they would call you “The Great One,” and not that Gretzky guy. Still, she’s a big fan of yours. In fact, she has one of your hockey sticks. I kind of feel bad telling you this, since I’m sure you’re going to want it back. You wouldn’t have signed it if you didn’t care if it was lost, right? I figured I’d check with you first though, since I am sure the postage won’t be cheap!

My girlfriend sent a short story to you she wrote (it had you in it). She sent it back when you were still playing hockey. If you remember this she’d like to know what you thought of it. I doubt if you will though. I can’t remember things that happened that far back, but then no one was writing stories about me either!

I’m a bit surprised the Rangers are doing so well this year. I watch them a lot because the girlfriend watches them a lot and the last couple of years they’ve lost a lot. It’s probably because that Lundqvist guy isn’t as good of a player as you. Or we could blame Sean Avery. This year though it’s like you’re back on the team!
