An Unanswered Letter to Iowa Department of Public Health

Dr. Patricia Quinlisk
c/o Iowa Department of Public Health

Des Moines, IA, 50319-0075

Dear Dr. Patricia Quinlisk,

The IDPH’s recent press release about a cat catching the swine flu kind of dropped the ball, don’t you think? I realize that a lot of people really care about their cats and their FIRST concern is the health of said cats, but these people are crazy! I love my cat and all, but my concern is quite the opposite. How much do I have to worry about catching the H1N1 from infected cats?

There is no way even the best propaganda campaign will get a cat to cover its sneeze. You can’t train those things to do anything. Hell, even people don’t cover their sneezes no matter how many times you tell them!

Do you think I should get my cat vaccinated against swine flu? The last thing I need is for my feline friend to go making me sick!

Happy Guy Fawkes day!

Sincerely,

Christopher L. Jorgensen
